Insurance

I am in-network with BCBS PPO, BCBS Blue Choice, and Aetna insurance companies. Your out of pocket cost per session depends on your benefits and coverage. Please reach out if you would like me to look into your in-network insurance coverage. If you have out of network insurance and they offer partial reimbursement for sessions, I am able to provide you with receipts or “superbills” that you can submit to them. However, I cannot submit claims to out-of-network insurance companies.

Out of Pocket

Everyone is eligible for out of pocket services. My out of pocket rates are described in more detail below. If you do not want a mental health diagnosis on record with your insurance company this could be your preferred method of payment. Depending on availability, I also offer extended sessions for an additional out of pocket cost. Any sessions longer than 50-55 minutes would be considered an extended session. If you book multiple services within one day, you will be subject to out of pocket fees per additional service (insurance will not cover more than one service per day).

Sliding Scale

If you’re going through financial stress, it can be discouraging to look for therapy and be faced with high session prices. I always reserve some spots on my caseload to work with clients who need more affordable counseling services. I charge 10% of your household’s weekly take home pay for sliding scale services. I am unfortunately not currently accepting new sliding scale clients, but you are welcome to contact me for more information about my waitlist or obtain referrals. Scroll down to the bottom of my “Finding a Therapist” page for more advice on seeking sliding scale services.

Financial FAQs

How much do sessions cost?

It depends! See above for a breakdown of session costs, which depends on how you want to pay for sessions. Most of my clients pay full out of pocket fees or a $20-50 copay through insurance. If you are using insurance to pay for sessions, you are responsible for all fees not covered by your insurance company.

How is payment collected?

All payment is due in full at the time of service. Fees for services are automatically charged to your payment method on file after each session. If your payment method on file does not go through, you will be notified and must provide alternate means of payment before your next scheduled session. Clients are not allowed to carry balances. An unpaid outstanding balance may incur additional fees or affect your ability to schedule future appointments. If you are the parent/guardian of a minor receiving counseling services, you are responsible for all associated fees.

How much will insurance cover?

You may have a copay as low as $10. You also may have to pay towards a large deductible, in which case you would be subject to my full session fees until you reach your deductible. Since it depends on your individual plan, I always check your coverage before we book your first session.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must do so at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. If you have a missed appointment or late cancellation/rescheduling request (within 24 hours of the appointment), you will be subject to a $100 fee. If you contact your therapist outside of business hours, any rescheduling or cancellation requests will still be received as long as you provide 24 hours notice.

Am I eligible for sliding scale services?

I leave a few spots open on my caseload for sliding scale services. You do not have to meet any criteria to be eligible for sliding scale services, however, these clients often do not have health insurance or are under high financial stress. Fees for sessions are determined using the policy listed above.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept payment through debit, credit, or HSA card. My online appointment management system automatically charges the client’s payment method on file after their session, so I am not able to accept other forms of payment. If you do not have access to one of these methods of payment, let me know and I will work with you to brainstorm alternate solutions.
